Load

Load is what is carried, or a force.
In electronics, telecommunication and computing, the term load has the following meanings:
- The power consumed by a device or circuit in performing its function.
- A power-consuming device connected to a circuit.
- An instruction to enter data or programs into storage or working registers.
- To insert data values into a database that previously contained no occurrences of data.
- For computing, see load (computing).
- To place a magnetic tape reel on a tape drive, or to place punch cards into the hopper of a card punch or reader.
