Littleton Common is a census-designated place and neighborhood in Littleton, Massachusetts, which is located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the area had a total population of 2,816.

Geography

Littleton Common is located at 42°32'12" North, 71°28'19" West (42.536606, -71.471984)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Littleton Common has a total area of 9.5 km² (3.7 mi²). 9.0 km² (3.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 4.38% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,816 people, 1,098 households, and 774 families residing in this section of Littleton. The population density is 311.5/km² (807.1/mi²). There are 1,142 housing units at an average density of 126.3/km² (327.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the neighborhood is 97.02% White, 0.28% African American, 0.07% Native American, 1.31% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 1.03% from two or more races. 1.21% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,098 households out of which 32.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.6% are married couples living together, 8.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.5% are non-families. 23.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.56 and the average family size is 3.05.

In the neighborhood the population is spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 34.1% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.2 males.

The median income for a household in the neighborhood is $60,323, and the median income for a family is $69,375. Males have a median income of $46,806 versus $38,571 for females. The per capita income for the neighborhood is $26,966. 5.2% of the population and 4.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 1.9% of those under the age of 18 and 4.9% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
