Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.4 km² (1.3 mi²). 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 6.77% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 4,443 people, 2,805 households, and 984 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,394.7/km² (3,601.0/mi²). There are 3,122 housing units at an average density of 980.0/km² (2,530.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 93.70% White, 3.26% African American, 0.02% Native American, 0.54% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.22% from other races, and 1.24% from two or more races. 5.78% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,805 households out of which 4.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 28.0% are married couples living together, 5.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 64.9% are non-families. 62.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 55.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.56 and the average family size is 2.45.
