Langjökull is after the Vatnajökull second in extension under the glaciers of Iceland (1.021 km2). It is situated in the west of the Icelandic Interior or Highlands of Iceland and can be seen clearly from Haukadalur.

Langjökull seen from the south
Its highest peak reaches 1360 metres (4460 ft). The glacier is located at Template:Coor dm.
Two of the bigger highland tracks are leading alongside this glacier: Kaldidalur Highland road and Kjölur Highland road. Kaldidalur is between Langjökull and the glacier Ok in the west, whereas Kjölur lies between Langjökull and Hofsjökull in the east.
