Lane Allen Evans (born August 4 1951), American politician, has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 1983, representing the 17th District of Illinois (map (http://nationalatlas.gov/printable/images/preview/congdist/il17_109.gif)). He was born in Rock Island, Illinois, was educated at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., served in the United States Marine Corps, and was a lawyer before entering the House.
Evans has battled Parkinson's Disease for a number of years. His 2004 opponent Andrea Zinga claimed he was not able to fully represent the members of his district due to his health concerns. Evans denied the accusations and won reelection.
