Lamont is a census-designated place located in Kern County, California. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 13,296.
Geography
Lamont is located at 35°15'40" North, 118°54'48" West (35.261102, -118.913320)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 12.0 km² (4.6 mi²). 11.9 km² (4.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.65% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 13,296 people, 3,114 households, and 2,690 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,116.0/km² (2,888.0/mi²). There are 3,277 housing units at an average density of 275.1/km² (711.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 44.50% White, 2.79% Black or African American, 1.53% Native American, 1.04% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 46.12% from other races, and 3.93% from two or more races. 88.85% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 3,114 households out of which 58.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.8% are married couples living together, 18.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 13.6% are non-families. 9.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 4.27 and the average family size is 4.41.
