Lakeland is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in Onondaga County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 2,852.
The community is within the Town of Geddes.

Lakeland is south of Onondaga Lake.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.9 km² (1.5 mi²). 3.9 km² (1.5 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,852 people, 1,076 households, and 800 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 724.4/km² (1,882.4/mi²). There are 1,111 housing units at an average density of 282.2/km² (733.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 98.39% White, 0.21% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.60% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.63% from two or more races. 0.98% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,076 households out of which 34.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.0% are married couples living together, 7.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.6% are non-families. 21.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.65 and the average family size is 3.10.
