According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 10.5 km² (4.1 mi²). 10.4 km² (4.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.25% is water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 3,413 people, 1,644 households, and 1,045 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 327.0/km² (846.6/mi²). There are 2,348 housing units at an average density of 225.0/km² (582.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 97.01% White, 0.64% African American, 0.73% Native American, 0.47% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.15% from other races, and 1.00% from two or more races. 0.91% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,644 households out of which 16.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.7% are married couples living together, 7.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.4% are non-families. 30.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.08 and the average family size is 2.52.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 15.4% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 20.1% from 25 to 44, 25.5% from 45 to 64, and 33.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 53 years. For every 100 females there are 94.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.0 males.
