Lake Los Angeles is a census-designated place located in Los Angeles County, California. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 11,523. It is located 17 miles east of Palmdale's Civic Center.
Geography
Lake Los Angeles is located at 34°37'4" North, 117°50'1" West (34.617665, -117.833678)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 33.8 km² (13.1 mi²). 33.7 km² (13.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.38% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 11,523 people, 3,137 households, and 2,613 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 342.0/km² (885.7/mi²). There are 3,453 housing units at an average density of 102.5/km² (265.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 61.01% White, 12.11% African American, 1.49% Native American, 1.00% Asian, 0.16% Pacific Islander, 18.73% from other races, and 5.49% from two or more races. 33.58% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 3,137 households out of which 52.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.9% are married couples living together, 15.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 16.7% are non-families. 11.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.66 and the average family size is 3.92.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 39.9% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 18.8% from 45 to 64, and 5.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 28 years. For every 100 females there are 99.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.7 males.
