The Lady Gabriella Marina Alexandra Ophelia Windsor was born on 23 April 1981. Known as Ella, both personally and professionally, she is the daughter of Prince Michael of Kent and his wife, Princess Michael (formerly Baroness Marie-Christine von Reibnitz), and is 31st in line to the British throne.
Prince Michael's marriage to a Roman Catholic disbarred him from succession to the British Throne under the provisions of the Act of Settlement 1701. However, Gabriella joined the Anglican communion and thus keeps her place in the line of succession.
Educated at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she studied Spanish and English literature, Lady Ella is an aspiring journalist and has been published in various English newspapers and magazines. In early 2005, there were speculations as to whether she will become the wife of Aatish Taseer, a Delhi-born trainee at TIME magazine, practising Sikh, and son of Pakistani businessman Salman Taseer and Indian journalist Tavleen Singh. (Before Taseer decided to follow in his mother's footsteps as a journalist, he once performed as the sex-safe character 'Captain Condom'.) No reports of an official engagement have been released.
Should she marry Aatish Taseer, she will take the style of The Lady Gabriella Taseer.
