Kuber
|
Khan Kuber was a Bulgar leader from the 7th century who was from the same clan as the Danubian Bulgarian khan Asparukh was.
When Great Bulgaria collapsed under the attacks of the Khazars, Kuber lead one of the fractions of the Bulgar people that left their former land in modern southern Russia. He travelled to Pannonia but around 680 AD settled with his people in the Balkans in western Macedonia and eastern Albania. There is not enough information about him after that but Asparukh's son, Tervel, in the beginning of the 8th century, is said to have cooperated with "his uncles" from Macedonia.
By the early 9th century the lands that Kuber settled had been incorporated into the First Bulgarian Empire.
