Kokhanok is a census-designated place located in Lake and Peninsula Borough, Alaska. As of the 2000 census, the population of the CDP is 174.
Geography
Kokhanok is located at 59°26'27" North, 154°44'49" West (59.440927, -154.746974)Template:GR.
Kokhanok is located on the south shore of Iliamna Lake, 37 km (23 miles) south of Iliamna.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 55.5 km² (21.4 mi²). 55.2 km² (21.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.47% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 174 people, 52 households, and 40 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 3.1/km² (8.2/mi²). There are 59 housing units at an average density of 1.1/km² (2.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 8.05% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 86.78% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.15% from other races, and 4.02% from two or more races. 1.15% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 52 households out of which 38.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 34.6% are married couples living together, 26.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.2% are non-families. 17.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 1.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.35 and the average family size is 3.68.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 35.1% under the age of 18, 11.5% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 17.2% from 45 to 64, and 5.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 141.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 145.7 males.

The population is a mixture of Aleut, Yupik and Athabaskan. Unlike Iliamna, the sport fishing industry doesn't reach Kokhanok, and the economic activity is based on subsistence hunting and fishing.
