Kirovsky District is located in the center of Primorsky Krai, Russia on the banks of the Ussury river. Forests occupy half of the District's territory.
Sanatoria and health resorts developmen dominate the economy of the District. Agriculture, bee keeping, and timber cutting are considered prospective.
Rich in chemical components Shmakovskiye mineral springs (hydrocarbonated and calcium-magnesium), Narzan type, with limpid water rich in carbonic acid are known far beyond Primorsky Krai's bounds. Shmakovka settlement is a unique health-center complex where is situated Imeni Pyatidesyatiletiya Oktyabrya Sanatorium for 300 people.
The District's attractions are a tower-chapel located on one of the highest viewpoints of Shmakovka Resort, and the old-time Ussuriysky Svyato-Troitsky (Saint Trinity) Nikolayevsky Orthodox Man's Cloister which was consructed in the end of 19th century and is the only one in the Russian Far East.
Due to its geographic position, climatic conditions, and natural resources this District may become a large recreation center of Primorye.
