Kings Park is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in Suffolk County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 16,146.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 16.3 km² (6.3 mi²). 15.3 km² (5.9 mi²) of it is land and 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 6.21% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 16,146 people, 5,480 households, and 4,197 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,058.4/km² (2,740.4/mi²). There are 5,574 housing units at an average density of 365.4/km² (946.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 95.45% White, 0.84% African American, 0.13% Native American, 1.89% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.62% from other races, and 1.04% from two or more races. 3.33% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 5,480 households out of which 36.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.1% are married couples living together, 8.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.4% are non-families. 20.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.86 and the average family size is 3.32.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 25.2% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 31.9% from 25 to 44, 23.3% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who are 65 years of age or older.
