Template:Koreanname noimage Kim Jong-pil is a South Korean politician who served as Prime Minister twice, from 1971-1975 and from 1998-2000.
Kim Jong-pil was born in Buyeo County, South Chungcheong province. He participated in the military coup led by Major General Park Chunghee in 1961 and served in several high-profile office, including Prime Minister and Chairman of the ruling Democratic Republican Party during Park's tenure that lasted 18 years.
In 2004, he announced his retirement from politics after his party, United Liberal Democrats, failed to gain sizable seats in the 2004 parliamentary election and his bid for the 10th term in the National Assembly failed.
