Kecleon, a fictional character, is a basic Normal-type Pokémon. When not invisible, it vaguely resembles a chameleon. It can be found only in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, on Routes 118-121 and 123; those that are invisible require the Devon Scope to see. A Kecleon blocks the path to the Fortree City gym; this Kecleon flees when found, but others will attack. They are most frequently invisible on Route 120, where the player can catch Absol.
Kecleon's ability is Color Change, which causes Kecleon to change its type to match that of the previous attack.
Pokédex description
According to the Pokédex, "KECLEON is capable of changing its body colors at will to blend in with its surroundings. There is one exception - this POKéMON can't change the zigzag pattern on its belly." However, it can easily hide this stripe by covering with its arms, as it can be seen doing in the Kecleon Bonus stage of Pokémon Pinball. While invisible, it will use its long tongue, much as a chameleon does, to steal food or catch its prey.
Anime appearance
In the episode "The Kecleon Caper", two Kecleon, named Reddy and Greeny (due to their respective colors) turned invisible to hide from their owners and escape the blimp in which they were travelling.
Kecleon also appeared in a special episode that wasn't aired out of Japan where it steals a sandwich from Team Rocket's Meowth.
Name origin
Kecleon's name comes from chameleon.
