Keansburg is a borough located in Monmouth County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 10,732.
Geography
Keansburg is located at 40°26'50" North, 74°7'52" West (40.447324, -74.131226)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 43.6 km² (16.8 mi²). 2.8 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is land and 40.8 km² (15.8 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 93.58% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 10,732 people, 3,872 households, and 2,563 families residing in the borough. The population density is 3,836.7/km² (9,954.4/mi²). There are 4,269 housing units at an average density of 1,526.2/km² (3,959.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 93.31% White, 2.13% African American, 0.10% Native American, 1.23% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 1.74% from other races, and 1.42% from two or more races. 7.95% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 3,872 households out of which 35.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.2% are married couples living together, 17.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.8% are non-families. 27.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.71 and the average family size is 3.35.
In the borough the population is spread out with 27.2% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 31.2% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.2% who are 65 years of age or older.
