Story
Kasumi is a female ninja in the Mugen Tenshin Style. Before she was to become the leader of the Mugen Tenshin Style, she escaped the Mugen Tenshin clan in order to join the Dead Or Alive tournament to find the assassin that cripled her brother Hayate, thus becoming a runaway shinobi. A runaway shinobi cannot return home. After the first Dead or Alive Tournament she was captured by DOATEC and a clone of her was created. She returns in DOA 3 to see her brother.
Her story and that of Ayane are shrouded in mystery, which is what the creators of Dead or Alive wanted. Also the reason Kasumi and Ayane do not have listed ages is because they are under the Age of consent in the west. This is in contrast to the lower age of consent in Japan which is thirteen. Another reason is so that players of all ages would be able to identify with the character.
She is Hayate's sister and half-sister of Ayane. She does not initially dislike Ayane but because Ayane is so tough on her, she comes to dislike. It is later found out that Kasumi's mother was raped and Ayane is the resulting child, thus she is Kasumi's half sister.
