Karen Saull is a businesswoman and philanthropist in Vero Beach, Florida. With her husband, Jeffrey Saull, she built a $100 million business in selling chairs and candles.
On May 7, 2004, she filed as a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate election. A virtual unknown for the first two months of her campaign, she released her first television advertisements in late June. She refused to accept contributions from supporters, planning to spend up to $5 million of her own funds on the campaign.
Saull dropped out of the race on August 3, stating that the Republican Party had not shown any intention to admit her to their "boys' club." She later endorsed Bill McCollum for the Republican nomination and ended up polling 2% herself.
