KBS (한국방송공사, Korean Broadcasting System) is one of three major South Korean television networks. The state-owned network is famous for nightly newscasts and lavish historical dramas, although private networks such as MBC and SBS have produced excellent historical dramas in recent years as well. KBS has a total of two channels, namely KBS1 and KBS2.
In 2002, the KBS Korean drama, Winter Sonata, who was directed by the KBS director Yun Suk Ho, brought KBS to a high level of honour and respect.
