John Robertson (U.S. congressman)

John Robertson (April 13, 1787 - July 5, 1873) was an American politician born in Virginia.
A Whig, he was elected to the Twenty-third United States Congress as a member of the House of Representatives, serving from 1834 till 1839. He had previously been Virginia's Attorney General.
He was a delegate to the "peace conference" held in Washington D.C. in 1861 to try and stop the impending American Civil War. He served in Virginia's senate from 1861-1863.
