John Busby

John Busby (March 24, 1765 - May 10, 1857) was a mining engineer. Born in Alnwick, England, he emigrated to New South Wales, Australia in 1824.
He designed and created Sydney's first efficient water supply, which was completed in 1837 and became known as "Busby's Bore". In this he was assisted by his son, William.
He was the father of James Busby, who was to become a major figure in the Australian wine-making industry.
