Joe Brown (climber)
|
Joe Brown (born September 1930) is a British climber, born the seventh and last child of a family in the Manchester suburb of Ardwick. He became a famous British climber in the 1950s, and was a member of the Valkyrie climbing club and founding member of the Rock and Ice climbing club. He created many new routes in the UK and abroad that were, at the time, in the hardest grades, and in 1955 he and George Band made the first ascent of Kanchenjunga in the Nepal Himalayas.
