Joaquín José Lavín Infante (born October 23 1953) is a Chilean former mayor and presidential candidate. He is a member of the Independent Democratic Union (UDI) party and former mayor of Santiago and Las Condes municipalities of capital Santiago.
Lavín was the presidential candidate for the UDI-RN coalition Alliance for Chile in 1999, but lost to PS/PPD candidate Ricardo Lagos in a runoff.
Lavín is now a UDI candidate in the 2005 presidential election. He is known for his populist style, reflected in his slogan "Con Lavín, te toca a ti!" or "With Lavín, it's your turn!"
Lavín is also a supernumerary member of the conservative Opus Dei religious organization.
