James Thomas Fallon (born September 19, 1974 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American comedian, actor and musician who is best known for his work on Saturday Night Live.
Fallon was raised in Saugerties, New York with his one year older sister Gloria and his parents, Jim and Gloria. Fallon attended St. Mary of the Snow, a Catholic, parochial school, and Saugerties High School. He graduated in 1992, and attended the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. Fallon majored in History, dropping out 15 credits shy of a degree.
From 2000 until his departure from the show in 2004, Fallon co-anchored Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" segment with Tina Fey. He was also an impressionist, portraying Pat O'Brien, Osama bin Laden, Jeff Zucker, Dennis Miller, Carson Daly, Chris Rock, Ryan Seacrest, Richard Simmons, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Howard Stern, Mick Jagger, John Mayer, Hilary Swank, Robin Williams, French Stewart, Van Morrison, and Barry Gibb. Some famous characters he had include Joey Mack, Nick Burns, the male half of "Sully and Denise" (the female half being played by Rachel Dratch), one of the Bloder Brothers (the other half being Chris Parnell), and Jarrett from "Jarrett's Room."
Beyond SNL
Before Saturday Night Live, Jimmy played in The Scheme [originally entitled The Entrepreneurs]. His SNL career has led to roles in Taxi, Anything Else, Band of Brothers, Almost Famous, and Fever Pitch.
In 2002, Fallon released the comedy album The Bathroom Wall.
Fallon co-hosted the 2001 MTV Movie Awards with Kirsten Dunst and hosted MTV Video Music Awards alone the next year. He also hosted the 2005 MTV Movie Awards.
Following the Boston Red Sox's World Series clinching game over the St. Louis Cardinals in 2004, Fallon ran onto the field at Busch Stadium with Drew Barrymore to film a scene for their new movie Fever Pitch released in theaters April 2005. This angered many Red Sox fans, who felt that their moment in the sun had been cheapened by Fallon, perceived by many as a mercenary interloper.
