James Patrick Caviezel (born September 26, 1968 in Mount Vernon, Washington) is an American movie actor who is often credited as Jim Caviezel.
He is perhaps best associated with his role, in 2004, as Jesus in Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, but he has also starred in such mainstream Hollywood films as Frequency and The Count of Monte Cristo.
Caviezel is adamant in expressing his Roman Catholicism and has publicly spoken at religious venues since the release of "The Passion..." On March 19, 2005 he was the main speaker at the first Catholic Men's Conference in Boston. Caviezel stated that he only chose to speak at the conference because he liked Boston Archbishop Sean P. O'Malley.
His wife Kerri, also a devoted Roman Catholic, is a teacher and an accomplished flutist.
They are both active in their parish in the Conejo Valley in California. Kerri supports a charity for single women with children and also volunteers with the Detention Ministry at a camp for incarcerated youth in Malibu, California.
Points of Interest
Caviezel is a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and is also a Minnesota Vikings fan. He prays the Rosary daily and has a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
