In computers, the Java Enterprise System (JES) is a bundled package of products and services from Sun Microsystems for the purpose of providing all necessary tools to operate an enterprise’s information technology system. The entire package is priced at 100 USD per employee, per year, which was considered by some a radical approach to pricing. Many of the software products in Java Enterprise System were previously marketed and sold by Sun individually under the iPlanet and Sun ONE brands.
In 2004, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts made a decision which was considered a positive indicator for the possible future of JES, by choosing to use JES for its own systems.
