Japan Freight Railway Company
|
The Japan Freight Railway or JR Freight (日本貨物鉄道 Nihon Kamotsu Tetsudō) is one of the constituent companies of Japan Railway (JR). It provides transportation of cargo nationwide.
Formerly part of Japanese National Railways (JNR), it became a separate company when JNR was privatized and split on April 1, 1987. Although it has only about fifty kilometers of track of its own, it also operates on track owned by the JR passenger railways and other companies.
