Janez Puh

Janez Puh (German Johann Puch) (1862 - 1914), was a Slovene inventor, mechanic and one of the greatest means of transport producers in Europe.
In only 15 years he succeeded to patent more than 35 patents, inventions and improvements. He came from Slovenske gorice (now Slovenia), completed a special training for locksmith - this was his education - grew up and worked mostly in multi-national Styria.
In 1885 he moved to Graz (Slovene Gradec) in today Austria, where in 1891 he started to manufacture bicycles, in 1903 motorcycles and in 1904 cars. Bicycles were very soon followed by motorcycles and in 1912 Puh's factory was employing 1,100 workers. They manufactured 300 cars, 300 motorcycles and 16,000 bicycles per year.
Until 1914 Puh developed 21 different types of cars, also lorries, buses, military and some special vehicles. Successful performances of Puh's motorcycles and cars on races and rallies all over the Europe carried his name among traffic means producers.
