Jailhouse Rock is a 1957 film starring Elvis Presley, as "Vince Everett," an ex-convict working in the music industry.
Deemed culturally significant, the film has been selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.
The film co-starred actress Judy Tyler, who was killed in an automobile accident a few weeks after the film was completed.

A 45rpm single of Jailhouse Rock/Treat Me Nice was released in September of 1957 that went to No. 1 on the Billboard magazine music charts. Both songs were written by Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller. The single was followed in October by an extended play record titled "Jailhouse Rock" that featured the four other songs from the motion picture.
