Torch Lake Township is a township located in Houghton County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 1,860.

Location of Dreamland, Michigan
- Dreamland is an unincorporated community on the east side of Torch Bay at Template:Coor dms. The elevation is 616 feet above sea level. The town consists almost entirely of the Dreamland Inn and several docks.
- Jacobsville is an unincorporated community on the south side of the Keweenaw Peninsula near the outlet of the Portage River at Template:Coor dms. It is the site of sandstone quarries that are now shut down but formerly supplied red sandstone for buildings throughout North America, Europe and even farther afield.
- Senter is a tiny unincorporated community about three miles east of Dollar Bay and about seven miles east of Hancock at Template:Coor dms. Located in the Copper Country of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, it is a small settlement with few if any businesses, which were generally inhabited by miners, people with mining-related jobs such as running the smelters, and their families.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 240.9 km² (93.0 mi²). 207.6 km² (80.1 mi²) of it is land and 33.3 km² (12.9 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 13.83% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,860 people, 740 households, and 523 families residing in the township. The population density is 9.0/km² (23.2/mi²). There are 1,505 housing units at an average density of 7.3/km² (18.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 98.98% White, 0.43% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.05% from other races, and 0.38% from two or more races. 0.32% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 740 households out of which 26.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.9% are married couples living together, 6.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.3% are non-families. 25.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 2.86.
In the township the population is spread out with 22.4% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 23.0% from 25 to 44, 28.1% from 45 to 64, and 21.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 96.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.5 males.
The median income for a household in the township is $35,893, and the median income for a family is $43,077. Males have a median income of $31,307 versus $25,208 for females. The per capita income for the township is $19,158. 9.8% of the population and 6.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 15.3% of those under the age of 18 and 9.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
