Jacobo ben Nathan Timerman (January 6, 1923 - November 11, 1999) was a publisher and author.
During the 1970s, he published a newspaper in Argentina that publicized human rights violations by the Argentine government, in particular calling attention to the disappearances of people during that administration's so-called "Dirty War". As a result, he was arrested, and during interrogations he was subjected to electric shock treatments, beatings, and solitary confinement. He chronicled his experiences in his 1981 book, Prisoner Without a Name, Cell Without a Number.
After his release, he emigrated to Israel where he wrote "The Longest War" detailing Israel's 1982 invasion of Lebanon.
His son, Héctor Timerman, is also an author, currently serving as Argentina's ambassador to the United States.nl:Jacobo Timerman
