Jack Lang (French politician)

Jack Lang (born September 2, 1939) is a French politician.
Jack Lang was born in Mirecourt, in the Vosges département of France.
He is best known for having fulfilled the positions of:
- Minister of Culture (May 22, 1981-March 19, 1986 and May 13, 1988-March 29, 1993)
- Minister of Education (April 3, 1992-March 29, 1993 and March 27, 2000-May 5, 2002)
In 1981, while Minister of Culture, he dreamt up the Fête de la Musique, a massive celebration of music held on June 21st in France, Belgium and Switzerland where many amateur musicians give open air performances for free.
