The Ireland national rugby league team, nicknamed the Irish Wolfhounds are the National Rugby league team representing Ireland. On some occasions, the team is dominated by second-generation professional players, born and bred in England, while on others amateur home players from the Rugby League Ireland competition compete as the national team.
Ireland is represented at rugby league in the European Nations Cup; since 2000 they have also competed in the World Cup, having previously played in the Emerging Nations Tournament. Irish players have also been selected to play for the Great Britain side, one recent example being Cork-born Brian Carney.
