In the days leading up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the Iraqi Regular Army consisted of 300,000 troops, organized into 5 corps. In all, there were 11 infantry divisions, 3 mechanized divisions, and 3 armored divisions.

The force was primarily located in eastern Iraq.
