Interstate 155
|
Interstate 155 is the designation for two tertiary interstate routes in the United States. One of these routes is in Illinois, and the other is in southern Missouri.
Illinois
In Illinois, Interstate 155 is a north-south spur that provides an interstate connection for the Illinois cities of Peoria and Lincoln. The northern terminus for the route is just east of Peoria, at Interstate 74 exit 101. The southern terminus for the route is at Interstate 55, exit 127. This is northwest of Lincoln, Illinois. The route is about 30 miles long.
Previously, the route that I-155 follows was a two lane road known as state highway 121. In the early 1990's, 121 was replaced by I-155, which was built to accommodate all the traffic going to and from Peoria to Lincoln and I-55.
Missouri
The Missouri route known as Interstate 155 is a short east-west spur in far southeast Missouri. The western terminus begins south of Hayti, Missouri at Interstate 55, exit 17. The route proceeds east to the Tennessee border. At the border, Interstate 155 becomes US Highway 412. Highway 412 continues east towards Dyersburg, Tennessee.
