Inside Monkey Zetterland
|
Inside Monkey Zetterland was a film penned by former child actor Steve Antin. Semi-autobiographical, it follows the life of the title character, a former child actor living in Los Angeles, California with his girlfriend (played by Debi Mazar.) His mother, Katherine Helmond, a famous soap star, harasses him to be more like his hairdresser brother. His lesbian sister (Patricia Arquette) has run away from her pregnant lover (Sofia Coppola.) And as if these details weren't enough, the kooky woman across the street (Sandra Bernhard) and a rabid fan of his mother's work (Ricki Lake) seem to be stalking the entire family. (The film also features cameos by Martha Plimpton and Rupert Everett as radical gay rights terrorists on a suicide mission.) The film won several awards at film festivals but didn't gain much commercial success. Template:Wikiquote
