The Hyacinthaceae are a family of monocot flowering plants. Most of the genera which are currently included in the family were formerly classified in family Liliaceae, but more recent classification systems designate the Hyacinthaceae as a separate family within order Asparagales. The Hyacinthaceae are herbaceous perennials that grow from bulbs, and include several popular garden plants, including Hyacinth (Hyacinthus), grape hyacinth (Muscari), bluebell (Hyacinthoides) and squill (Scilla).
Current research in molecular systematics is leading to further revision of the Hyacinthaceae, and some genera that were formerly placed within the family (for example Chlorogalum and Camassia) are now placed in other families within the Asparagales.
