Hurlock is a town located in Dorchester County, Maryland. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,874.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 7.0 km² (2.7 mi²). 6.5 km² (2.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 7.04% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,874 people, 710 households, and 491 families residing in the town. The population density is 289.4/km² (748.5/mi²). There are 772 housing units at an average density of 119.2/km² (308.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 60.46% White, 35.27% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.85% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from other races, and 3.04% from two or more races. 2.88% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 710 households out of which 35.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% are married couples living together, 19.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.8% are non-families. 26.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.62 and the average family size is 3.12.
