Houten is a municipality and a town in the central Netherlands. Houten is a so called dormitory town. People often work in other towns like nearby Utrecht.

Transportation
A tram operates between Houten railway station and Houten Castellum, running parallel to the railway. This is a temporary measure until the railway itself is widened with more tracks. This service is line 23, train series 9000. See also Transport in the Netherlands.
