House of 1000 Corpses is an horror film directed by Rob Zombie, a Heavy Metal singer making his debut as a movie director. It was released on April 11, 2003 and marketed as The most shocking tale of carnage ever seen. The movie was produced by Lion's Gate Films.
Plot
House of 1000 Corpses follows two young couples that run out of gas on a lonely road. Forced to enter a convenience store and gas station for help, the couples meet an attendant there painted like a clown called Captain J.T. Spaulding (named after Groucho Marx's character in the 1930 movie, Animal Crackers). The couples were looking forward to touring an area known to be inhabited by a legendary Dr. Satan and his victims. The clown-faced man offers them a ride on a roller coaster cart through his museum of dead things, where they observe a tunnel of exhibitions, such as mutilations, murders, etc.
Upon leaving the store, they are offered directions to go to the area Dr. Satan is known to inhabit. They pick up a hitchhiker, who leads them to a house in the area. There, they meet the hitchhiker's family. At first, the family seems charming and hospitable, but they turn out to be a family of psychopathic murderers holding five missing cheerleaders who are quickly disposed of.
Both couples are kidnapped, tortured, terrorized and enslaved by the family. Despite their frequent attempts at escaping, either by running or pleading, every minute turns more and more painful for the couples.
Meanwhile, local cops investigating the disappearances arrive at the house, where they are shot to death by the family.
After one of the couples dies, the remaining girl tries to run away from the house, only to blunder into a room where she discovers Dr. Satan alive and about to open her still alive boyfriend on an operating table. After witnessing her boyfriend's death, she escapes onto the road leading to town.
She hitchhikes, but the man who picks her up is the convenience store owner (Captain J.T. Spaulding), who in collaboration with Dr. Satan leads her back.
