Holderness (borough)
|
Holderness was a local government district and borough in northern England, named for the Holderness peninsula.
It was formed on April 1, 1974 along with the administrative county of Humberside in which it was situated. On April 1, 1996, Humberside and the borough were abolished, and it became part of the new unitary East Riding of Yorkshire.
Towns in the borough included Preston (North & South), Hedon, Hornsea and Withernsea. These urban districts together with Holderness Rural District were merged to form the district in 1974.
