Hillcrest is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in Rockland County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 7,106.
Hillcrest is an unincorporated area of the Town of Ramapo, adjacent to Ramapo's border with the Town of Clarkstown. The hamlet also borders the villages of Spring Valley and New Square. It is regarded as a bedroom suburb of New York City, as many residents commute to employment in Manhattan (and, to a lesser extent, northern New Jersey) by bus (Red and Tan Lines), train (Conrail) or automobile. It is primarily served by the Spring Valley post office and the East Ramapo Central School District.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²). 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 7,106 people, 1,979 households, and 1,593 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 2,126.9/km² (5,505.8/mi²). There are 2,036 housing units at an average density of 609.4/km² (1,577.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 25.58% White, 51.11% African American, 0.32% Native American, 14.69% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 4.02% from other races, and 4.19% from two or more races. 11.48% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,979 households out of which 42.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.1% are married couples living together, 12.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.5% are non-families. 16.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.49 and the average family size is 3.89.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 26.7% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 95.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.1 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP is $68,889, and the median income for a family is $76,960. Males have a median income of $38,451 versus $35,408 for females.
