Highmore is a city located in Hyde County, South Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 851. It is the county seat of Hyde CountyTemplate:GR.
Geography
Highmore is located at 44°31'7" North, 99°26'28" West (44.518700, -99.441106)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.9 km² (1.9 mi²). 4.9 km² (1.9 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 851 people, 378 households, and 210 families residing in the city. The population density is 172.0/km² (445.3/mi²). There are 432 housing units at an average density of 87.3/km² (226.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 95.89% White, 0.00% African American, 3.41% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.24% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.47% from two or more races. 0.12% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 378 households out of which 26.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.8% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 44.2% are non-families. 41.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 25.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
