High Force is a waterfall on the River Tees near Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham, England. Although often described as the highest waterfall in England, at 70 feet it is not - Cautley Spout in Cumbria's Howgill Fells is almost 600 feet high, and Hardraw Force in North Yorkshire has an unbroken drop of 100 feet.
Nevertheless, High Force is one of England's most impressive, since the river is quite powerful. A little downstream from High Force are the Low Force waterfalls.
