Hertford is a town located in Perquimans County, North Carolina. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,070. It is the county seat of Perquimans CountyTemplate:GR.
Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 7.0 km² (2.7 mi²). 7.0 km² (2.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.74% water.

The racial makeup of the town is 48.16% White, 50.39% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.05% from other races, and 1.01% from two or more races. 1.21% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
