Herriman, Utah

Herriman is a town located in Salt Lake County, Utah. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,523. The city, although not entirely new, has exploded in population during the last five years. The city was incorporated on June 17, 1999 and by 2003 the estimated population had already reached 5,632.

Geography

Herriman is located at 40°30'24" North, 112°1'51" West (40.506588, -112.030872)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 23.6 km² (9.1 mi²). 23.6 km² (9.1 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,523 people, 437 households, and 388 families residing in the town. The population density is 64.5/km² (167.1/mi²). There are 459 housing units at an average density of 19.4/km² (50.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 95.99% White, 0.00% African American, 1.18% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.33% Pacific Islander, 1.25% from other races, and 0.98% from two or more races. 2.76% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 437 households out of which 55.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 82.2% are married couples living together, 4.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 11.0% are non-families. 8.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.49 and the average family size is 3.73.

In the town the population is spread out with 36.6% under the age of 18, 12.9% from 18 to 24, 34.4% from 25 to 44, 12.5% from 45 to 64, and 3.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 25 years. For every 100 females there are 111.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 103.6 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $56,361, and the median income for a family is $57,404. Males have a median income of $44,135 versus $30,893 for females. The per capita income for the town is $18,991. 3.9% of the population and 2.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 5.7% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
