Hereford is a city located in Deaf Smith County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 14,597. It is the county seat of Deaf Smith CountyTemplate:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.5 km² (5.6 mi²). 14.5 km² (5.6 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

The racial makeup of the city is 69.86% White, 1.76% African American, 0.82% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 24.77% from other races, and 2.41% from two or more races. 61.37% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
