Henri Nouwen

Henri Jozef Machiel Nouwen (January 24, 1932 - September 21, 1996) was a Dutch Catholic priest and writer who wrote many devotional books, most famously perhaps The Wounded Healer. He had been the lecturer of Harvard University, Yale University and Ontario Theological Seminary, Canada.
His spirituality was influenced by many, notably by his friendship with Jean Vanier. At the invitation of Vanier he joined Daybreak, a Canadian L'Arche Community in 1986 for people with learning disabilities. Nouwen wrote about his experiences befriending a severely disabled man there, and later died while still living as part of the community.
Nouwen frequently also wrote about his struggles to reconcile his faith with depression and homosexuality.
One of his famous work is Inner Voice of Love, with his diary between December 1987 to June 1988 during his spiritual depression. Famous Hong Kong Christian theologist Milton Wan Wai Yiu had appended this book with his spiritual experiences with the encounter wih him. Milton had commented his spiritual theology with the level 'Higher and Deeper than Catholicism and Protestant' and his works are well accredited by many Christians even with gospel stream.
