Heidelberg Township is a township located in York County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 2,970.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 38.7 km² (15.0 mi²). 37.5 km² (14.5 mi²) of it is land and 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.41% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 2,970 people, 1,082 households, and 871 families residing in the township. The population density is 79.3/km² (205.4/mi²). There are 1,104 housing units at an average density of 29.5/km² (76.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 97.91% White, 0.47% African American, 0.30% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.27% from other races, and 0.84% from two or more races. 0.64% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,082 households out of which 35.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.3% are married couples living together, 4.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.5% are non-families. 15.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.74 and the average family size is 3.06.
